Entry 272– "Madness"

by sebastianberry

Song: “Madness” || Artist: Muse || http://youtu.be/Mq9zhpBweDk ||

Comments: Thanks to Amanda for sending me this. Ladies and Gentlemen, Stuck In My Skull presents the first single of Muse’s new album, The Second Law: “Madness,” and boy, is it a song. Muse continues their growth towards electronic music without being overbearing, and is still fronted by Matt Belamy’s trademark falsetto. I love this song. Stayed tuned here, folks, and we’ll let you know if a video comes out, or the next single is released. Enjoy the song!

Entry 236– "Survival" and 3000 Hits!

by Christopher

Song: “Survival”
Artist: Muse

Comments: HOLY 3000 HITS, BATMAN! I am shocked and amazed how quickly this blog has grown. It took something like nine months to reach the last milestone, and it’s only been 50 entries for this one. That is unbelievably fast, and has grown incredibly rapidly. I am so proud of all we have done here, and I can’t thank my fellow authors enough. What’s more, I can’t thank our amazing readers and listeners enough. Thank you all!
And now, to get off my Taylor Swift-esque soapbox. Amanda originally dug up this song a few days ago, and I immediately earmarked it for just such a milestone as this. The song– the official song of the London 2012 Olympics– fits this occasion nicely. To top it all off, I love this artist. Muse has a unique and incredible sound– not just Matt Bellamy’s trademark falsetto, but their instrumentation and arrangement is unique as well. Unique, and to my ears, excellent. Enjoy the song!

Entry 108– Heart Week, Part 2: "I Belong To You (+Mon Coeur S’ouvre A Ta Voix)"

by Christopher

❤ Week, Part 2
Song: “I Belong To You (+Mon Coeur S’ouvre A Ta Voix)”
Artist: Muse

Comments: And ❤ Week continues! For this one, the English half of the title more than explains everything. The song is beautiful, (like you, [Sorry, couldn't resist,]) and moving. I've looked up a translation for the French part of the lyrics before, but I admit I don't remember what they say. It was something romantic, though. Enjoy the song!

*edit: Apparently blogger just doesn’t like my titles this week. Oh well, so be it.
*edit 12/21/11: Got the titles working!

Entry 66– "Glorious"

by Christopher

Song: “Glorious”
Artist: Muse

Comments: I woke up this morning with this song stuck in my head, and decided to pass it along. This is one of the less well-known songs by Muse. If I remember correctly, it came as a bonus track on one of their albums– “Black Holes and Revelations,” I think. Enjoy!

Entry 57– New Spins Week, Part 4: "Feeling Good"

by Christopher

New Spins Week, Part 4
Song: “Feeling Good”
Artist: Muse
Spin on: “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone

Comments: Sorry about the late post, everyone– I’m pretty sick. But enough about me, this is a blog about music. Today’s music: the song “Feeling Good.” As best as I can tell, this song was originally done by Nina Simone, and covered by more artists than I care to name. (If I’m wrong about the original artist, let me know, and I’ll post a correction.) Of all the versions and covers that I’ve encountered, I prefer the one by Muse. The megaphone used in the vocals is a nice touch, and I think it sounds really, really cool. I’d be interested to see if anyone reading this has a version of this song they like better. If you know a cover or a spin on this song you think people should hear, let me know and I’ll pass it along. As a side note, the version I posted was recorded live at Wembley Stadium. If you want to hear the official, studio-perfect music video version, you can find it at http://youtu.be/CmwRQqJsegw. Enjoy the music!

Entry 53– "Butterflies and Hurricanes"

by Christopher

Song: “Butterfiles and Hurricanes”
Artist: Muse

Comments: Oh, Muse. More importantly, Matt Bellamy’s falsetto is just so ridiculous. One note of that voice, and you know you’re listening to Muse. I love this song. I’d put the actual music video up, but it’s so quiet you can’t really hear the song, so I opted for the live version instead. Enjoy, and have a good weekend!
